I have tried some of the sony headphones, and a few other brands out there. There are other fine choices out there, though they often had some annoyance or another. An important thing about the Bose QC2 is that it's very comfortable to wear. Many of the other headphones would annoy me after a few hours. I had no problems wearing the QCs for long flights, or full days in at work. If I had to guess, the Consumer Reports review probably only focused on wearing the headphones for a short period of time.

I'll keep an eye out for the panasonics, and I'll be sure to give them a try. Thanks!

Have you tried any other NC headphones? Some time ago, I read a review (Consumer Reports, maybe?) of NC headphones that rated some Panasonic model as virtually as good as the Bose, but at 33-50% of the Bose price.
